Stuart Blake selected as the new CEO & Managing Partner of Fillmore Riley

The Chair of Fillmore Riley LLP’s Executive Committee, Jody Langhan, is pleased to announce that Stuart Blake has been selected as the CEO & Managing Partner effective January 1, 2022.

As Chair of the Executive Committee, Jody drives client-focused strategic initiatives. The firm’s incoming CEO & Managing Partner, Stuart Blake, will play a key role in implementing these new initiatives and ensuring the firm continues to deliver the premium level of service our clients have come to expect. Michele McClymont, our Chief Operating Officer, leads our team to achieve excellence in all business and administrative operations.

“Stuart served on the Executive Committee for three years while running a large, nationally recognized insurance practice,” said Jody. “He will ensure that our firm stays on the leading edge of meeting our clients’ evolving needs.”

Respected by his clients and peers, Stuart has consistently been recognized as one of Winnipeg’s most accomplished insurance lawyers. Stuart will maintain his insurance practice after transitioning into his new role.

Glen Peters, the firm’s outgoing CEO & Managing Partner, held the role for 18 years. He recently championed a strategic-planning process, transformed the firm’s leadership structure and led the firm through the pandemic.

Under Glen’s leadership, Fillmore Riley has consistently been recognized as a leading Prairie law firm. The Globe and Mail recently named Fillmore Riley one of Canada’s Best Law Firms for 2022. Fillmore Riley’s “areas of distinction” include Banking & Finance, Construction & Infrastructure, Corporate & Commercial, Dispute Resolution (Litigation, Arbitration & Investigations), Insurance, Labour & Employment, Real Estate and Tax.

Eager to resume practising full time, Glen plans to ramp up his broad-based commercial practice. He will also support Stuart’s transition over the coming year.
