Biography

Aron draws from his experience to provide clients with timely and practical advice to help them comfortably navigate their complex tax and legal matters.

Aron is a partner in the firm’s Taxation practice. His practice encompasses all aspects of corporate and personal tax planning.

Aron’s corporate tax practice includes the tax aspects of mergers and acquisitions, business structuring (including the preparation of shareholders’ agreements and partnership agreements), corporate reorganizations (including divisive “butterfly” reorganizations), and restructuring tax-exempt organizations (including charities).

His personal tax planning practice includes business succession and estate planning (including the preparation of trust agreements). He also practises in the area of tax disputes and tax litigation and has experience in obtaining advance income tax rulings from the Canada Revenue Agency.

Aron has a significant healthcare law practice, acting as counsel to healthcare and other professionals, including doctors and dentists who are looking to start or expand their practices. He has advised healthcare professionals on establishing professional corporations, purchasing and selling practices, real estate and leasing transactions, maintaining and transferring health records, and restructuring practices.

Aron is the partner responsible for Fillmore Riley's Corporate Services Department, and he also sits on several of the firm's internal committees.

Aron is the recipient of the Manitoba Bar Association's 2023 Community Involvement Award. Aron currently serves as Treasurer of the Jewish Federation of Winnipeg. He was previously a director of Winnipeg's Jewish Child and Family Service and an elected council member of the Manitoba Bar Association. Aron has volunteered as a coach to the University of Manitoba's Bowman National Tax Moot team and has given his time to Winnipeg's Kashrut supervisory authority. Aron also volunteers with the Canadian Tax Foundation.

A graduate of the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law and the Ivey Business School, Aron was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Tradition Law LLP Wealth and Succession Prize, the Cecil Black Memorial Prize in Taxation of Trusts and Estates, the Scotiabank Award in Trusts, and the D.A. Thompson, Q.C. Prize in Income Tax Law and Policy.
