Biography

Julia practises in intellectual property, entertainment and technology law, as well as civil litigation. She is a registered trademark agent.

Julia assists clients with intellectual property strategy, protection, enforcement, tech transfer and licensing including copyrights, trademarks, patents and trade secrets. She also represents clients in litigious disputes, with a focus on intellectual property and administrative law matters, judicial reviews and matters before the Federal Courts. Julia has considerable experience advising secondary and post-secondary institutions on a wide variety of matters, and advising clients in the cultural and entertainment industries on clearances, contracts and business matters.

Julia is actively involved in the legal community. She was previously a sessional instructor in Copyright Law at the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law and guest lectures regularly on the topic. As well, she volunteers as a coach for the University of Manitoba Faculty of Law’s Harold G. Fox Moot Competition team.

A musician and dedicated supporter of the arts, she is on the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra’s Board of Directors and is a member of its Executive, Finance and Governance Committees.

A graduate of the University of Manitoba, Julia was awarded the prestigious A. Montague Israels Q.C. Prize when called to the Bar in 2017.
