Ari Hanson and Aaron Challis, partners of Fillmore Riley LLP, have been recognized in the 2026 edition of Benchmark Litigation's 40 & Under List — Canada.
Recognizing the top emerging talent in Canada, Benchmark Litigation's 40 & Under List is the result of an extensive research process, involving interviews with litigators, a review of recent casework, and peer evaluations to identify outstanding young litigators making an impact.
Ari's tax practice focuses on Canada Revenue Agency audits, objections to appeals and appeals to the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal. He also has a robust commercial litigation practice, particularly in the areas of real estate litigation, including expropriation and intellectual property disputes, including trademark and copyright matters. Most of Ari’s tax and commercial litigation clients are enterprises drawn from the Manitoba economy, and he also acts for individuals and trust professionals in disputes related to estates and powers of attorney. He also has a focus on aviation litigation, including representation of airlines and insurers in all manner of industry-related disputes.
Aaron's practice focuses primarily on commercial litigation and insurance matters. He has significant experience advising clients on a wide range of claims and acting for insurers and resolving matters for clients in construction, real estate and development industries. He also supports the firm's financial services clients, including banks and credit unions in bankruptcy, foreclosure and debt enforcement proceedings. He has appeared before trial and appellate courts in Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Ontario.
