Brannen is an articling student-at-law with an expected Call to Bar of 2027.

Brannen earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Manitoba in 2026, where he won the Gilbert T. Gregory Memorial Prize for highest standing in Real Estate Transactions. He was also a finalist in the 2026 Canadian Copyright Policy Moot.

Outside of the legal community, Brannen regularly volunteers with the Winnipeg Humane Society.
