Fillmore Riley LLP recognized in Chambers Canada.

Fillmore Riley LLP received recognition in the areas "Agribusiness Law—Canada" and "General Business Law—Manitoba" in the recently released Chambers Canada Guide. Chambers Canada covers lawyers and law firms practising in all provinces and territories in Canada.

Chambers identified Fillmore Riley as one of the recommended firms in Canada in the area of Agribusiness Law. Only two Manitoba-based firms were listed. Chambers noted Fillmore Riley provides “a full range of corporate services to agribusiness clients, including grain handling and grain-processing companies.” Peter Davey and Jody Langhan were identified as notable practitioners.

In the area of General Business Law—Manitoba, Chambers Canada wrote that Fillmore Riley’s “areas of strength include M&A, partnership and joint venture agreements, restructuring and financing matters.”

Chambers listed Cy Fien as a notable practitioner in tax law. “Senior partner Cy Fien is considered a ‘pre-eminent tax lawyer’ who enjoys a ‘tremendous reputation’ in Manitoba and beyond. He is also highly experienced in trust law,” Chambers wrote.

Tim Dewart received recognition as a notable practitioner in banking and financial law. “Timothy Dewart is ‘an excellent lawyer’ who is highly regarded for his lending practice. He acts for financial institutions, insurance companies and private businesses on a wide range of business law matters, with a focus on real estate,” Chambers wrote.

Chambers Canada was published for the first time in October 2015 and will be published annually every October. The Chambers Guides have been ranking the best law firms and lawyers since 1990, now covering 185 jurisdictions throughout the world. The rankings are based on the research of 150 full-time editors and researchers.
