Fillmore Riley's in first place for fundraising for Dragon Boat Races.

Fillmore Riley’s Dragon Boat Team, Motion to Strike Cancer, is currently in first place as the team to raise the most money for kids in Manitoba living with cancer.

To date, the team has raised almost $11,000.

“This cause is a personal one for me,” said Stuart Blake, a Partner at Fillmore Riley LLP and one of the top fundraisers. “There is nothing worse than having a child diagnosed with the disease.”

In addition to individual fundraising efforts, the team has raised money through bake sales, 50/50 draws and other initiatives.

A CancerCare Manitoba Foundation and Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba partnership, the Manitoba Dragon Boat Festival raises funds for research, care and support for Manitoba kids living with cancer.

After participating in CancerCare Manitoba’s Challenge for Life Walk for three consecutive years and raising more than $66,000, Fillmore Riley decided it was time to test the waters as paddlers in the 2013 Manitoba Dragon Boat Festival.

The races take place in Winnipeg's Red River on September 13th, 14th, & 15th, 2013. Click here to visit our team page.
