Fillmore Riley kicks off fundraising initiatives for 2011 Challenge for Life

For the second consecutive year, Fillmore Riley LLP is fundraising for CancerCare Manitoba’s 2011 Challenge for Life 20K Walk.

“We are proud to be the first law firm in Winnipeg involved with CancerCare Manitoba’s initiative,” said General Manager Nicolle Brockie. “This year we will continue our commitment to raise serious money for a serious cause and this challenge aligns well with our firm’s history of philanthropy and community involvement.”

A co-ed spongee hockey game between partners and associates officially kicked off the firm’s fundraising events. A talented group of support staff followed up with a lavish Daffodil Tea on April 26, 2011. The event virtually sold out and raised more money than any other single internal fundraising initiative to date.

With a full roster of fundraising initiatives, Fillmore Riley hosted a Bud, Spud and Steak Night on May 26, 2011, at the Palomino Club, raising more than $3,000. “Our coming together to fundraise for such an important cause builds camaraderie around the office. We have a very passionate fundraising team,” said Brockie.

In 2010, the firm raised $22,896 for CancerCare Manitoba, exceeding its goal of $12,000. “We hope to raise the bar even higher this year,” said Brockie.
