Fillmore Riley congratulates articling student Jason Roberts for securing a position as a law clerk to the Honourable Mr. Justice Louis LeBel of the Supreme Court of Canada.

Roberts will relocate to Ottawa in August 2012 and will commence his clerkship in September 2012.

“We are very proud that Jason has been hired for this prestigious position,” said Fillmore Riley’s managing partner Glen Peters. “The experience he gains with the Supreme Court of Canada will be invaluable.”

A law clerk, under the direction of the judge for whom the clerk works, researches points of law, prepares memoranda of law and generally assists the judge in the work of the Court.

This is not the first time that one of Fillmore Riley’s articling students has been selected to work for Canada's highest court. From 2008 to 2009, Fillmore Riley’s Johanna Caithness clerked for the Honourable Mr. Justice Marshall Rothstein.
Since her return to Fillmore Riley as an associate, Caithness and the firm have drawn upon her Supreme Court of Canada experience when advising clients.

Upon fulfilling his tenure as a law clerk with the Supreme Court, Roberts plans to return to Fillmore Riley as an associate.

Roberts has received recognition for his outstanding academic performance at the University of Manitoba Faculty Of Law. Each year the Law Society of Manitoba awards prizes to the top 4 students in third year law and in 2010, Jason received the prize for the second-highest academic standing.
