Fillmore Riley LLP congratulates Shayne Berthaudin on his recent appointment to the position of master for the Manitoba Court of Queen’s Bench.

Berthaudin, a partner with Fillmore Riley since 2006, has earned a solid reputation for his work in civil and commercial litigation, including debt collection matters, construction disputes and insurance law.

Representing a diverse range of clients from small businesses to multinational corporations, Berthaudin has acted for both plaintiffs and defendants and has appeared before all levels of court and numerous administrative tribunals.

After Berthaudin completed his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Saskatchewan in 1996, he joined Fillmore Riley as an articling student. Over the last decade, he has taken on a strong leadership role in assisting and mentoring law students.

“Shayne has been a tremendous asset to Fillmore Riley,” said Managing Partner Glen Peters. “He is an outstanding person and an accomplished lawyer and we know he will serve the public well in his new position."

As provincially appointed members of the Court of Queen’s Bench, masters have extensive adjudicative responsibilities in civil, family, probate and bankruptcy proceedings. There is no monetary limit to the jurisdiction of masters.

There are now four masters in Winnipeg and one in Brandon.
