Fillmore Riley LLP first law firm to take on Challenge for Life 20K Walk.

Fillmore Riley is the first law firm in Winnipeg to become involved with CancerCare Manitoba Foundation’s Challenge for Life 20K Walk.

Created by the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation, the annual walk helps Manitobans reduce their risk of cancer and increases awareness for all types of cancers. Each participant commits to take an active role in making healthy lifestyle choices and to raise a minimum of $1,000 to further cancer research and awareness in Manitoba.

“Fillmore Riley has a longstanding commitment to giving back to our community,” said Nicolle Brockie, General Manager of Fillmore Riley. “We like this particular initiative because it is made-in-Manitoba, it is aligned with our company wellness program, and we are raising funds for a cause that is near and dear to so many people's hearts. “

Fillmore Riley has committed to raising a minimum of $12,000 which the firm hopes to exceed through numerous fundraising events. “We are ecstatic that we have a team of 12 walkers who are fully supported by not only the staff and lawyers in the firm, but also by many family members and friends,” Brockie added.

Last year more than 700 Manitobans took part in this challenge, raising more than $1 million for Manitobans and their families living with cancer. Patient care and support, including education, early detection initiatives and clinical trials, were key priorities receiving funding through the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation.
